Suppose you have to go out an d you will not be back in time to switch off a meal alrea dy cooking in the oven and r equiring another 40 minutes before it is d one.W ARNIN G: Under no circumstance s should the bottom bake eleme nt be covered with aluminium foil. Nor should a pan or tray be posit ioned directly above the bake element. Doing so would re flect the heat from the bake eleme nt downwards.Hence fish, meat and cakes can be baked at the s ame time. 3. The oven door may be opened any time for inspection purposes without risking a f lop. 4. By ci rculating hot air around the food, spit-roast chickens may be done without using a rotisserie. 5. Cooking is done at slightly lower temperatures, saving el ectricity and reducing s platter. Baking Thermofan ovens are supplied wit h two baking trays. T he position of the trays will be determined by the size of the items to be baked. If desired, an additional t ray may be purchased from the n earest Defy Par ts Centre so that baking may be done on three trays simultaneously. When the indicato r light switches off, the food should b e placed in the oven.This is normal and is not detrimental to the foo d or the oven. Caution: Thermofan baking re lies on good cont act between the bottom of the cake tin and the oven tray. Do not use spring form baking tins with a raised bottom. The lack of contact will cause the bo ttom of the cake to be underdone.Do not put cold pots on v ery hot plates. During the refrigeration part of the cycle the cam closes the first set of contacts directing the flow of electricity to the compressor-motor. During the auto defrost part of the operation cycle the rotating cam allow the first set of contacts to open, shutting down the compressor and closing the second set of contacts, sending electric current to the defrost heating elements. Manual Operation All defrost timers have a slot in which a screwdriver can be inserted to operate the timer manually. By turning the screwdriver in a clockwise direction you will be able to open and close the internal contacts manually. When you hear the first click, the compressor will shut down and the defrost heaters will come on. On the second click, the defrost heating elements will shut off and the compressor starts running again. Time Intervals Refrigerator manufacturers choose constant run defrost timers or accumulative defrost timers that operate on 6-, 12- or 24-hour intervals. A 6-hour interval timer means that the refrigerator will auto defrost once every 6 hours, a 12-hour interval timer once every 12 hours and a 24-hour interval timer once every 24 hours.
