What Ergotron did for the LX however, was just use a larger plate with both 75mm and 100mm holes drilled in it. So if you need to use the 100mm holes, you're going to have the extra weight of the adapter plate on the 3M. All cable management is underneath the arms, and the arm comes boxed in 3 pieces with the base plate assembled, which was a nice plus. I needed the added height of the 3M, otherwise I would have just bought another LX. I'm not entirely pleased about the minimal downward tilt, but the LX is the same way. I'm always happy to try out new products though, and I'm pleased to see 3M giving Ergotron a run for their money. After about 2 weeks, they got back to me and said that upon testing the unit, determined their specs were wrong. It not only got the monitor further away to help save my vision but it also cleared all kinds of space on my desk for other things or just to have a nice clear desk for once:). I wasnt sure how well this would work since I had no idea how many different monitor configurations there are and my monitor is probably a good 8-10years old. The monitors old stand piece had 4 screws that came out easy and the monitor arm came with a supplied bracket which used the same screws to attach to the back of arm plate - nice and easy just the way I like it, and so seldom get. There were other supplied screws and brackets that came with the arm as well which probably can fit so many other configurations. As far as the quality goes, I was very impressed with the nice steel arm pieces that came with the product and the nice clamp that fit right on my desk to hold it up.The monitor can be moved up, down, left, right, basically any which way with the very adjustable well designed arm. This item was what you would expect to get for the price you pay for this item, which so rarely happens with all the fly by night, skimp every which way for profit companies out there nowadays. I bought it to go with my new Mac Mini, It is so easy to assemble this arm, which comes beautifully packaged in a small box (in three large pieces, with everything you need to assemble it in several different ways - including tools, with the exception of a Phillips screwdriver). I'm a 65 year old female and had no trouble following the pictures to assemble it. I will admit though, that its weight is so heavy once it's assembled, that I did get some help holding it, while I attached it to my table. (That's not a negative, but you might want another person around when you're attaching it to the table.) By the way, it provides a variety of ways to attach as well. All pictured in the directions that come with it. This is one flexible and brilliant piece of equipment. I did have some difficulty locating the screw used to tighten the resistance for moving the monitor up and down. You get full range of motion including rotation. The parts are sturdy and you can even control the stiffness of the joints using the hex adjustments. Note that Apple lists this display as 23 pounds, but that's before removing the large aluminum stand and adding the VESA mount -- I can't say what the exact weight is after doing that. I ended up hacking a solution myself (adding some D-rings to the top VESA thumbscrews, and attaching a small bungee wrapped around the neck to give it more support) but the main issue is that the spring in this unit is nowhere near as beefy as the one in the Ergotron MX model I replaced with this. Additionally, the tension screw for the tilt joint inexplicably uses a philips head screw for tension, when every other tension adjustment uses a heavy duty allen key. When trying to use this mount at the high end of the weight capacity, it requires a lot of torque on the tension adjustment, and it is way too easy to strip a philips head.Please try again later. The monitor, however, is rated at 18 lbs. The arm can hold it up fine but the very last hinge for tilting up and down is not strong enough. When I set it flat and let go, it sags forward about 10 degrees. I've tightened every single adjustment screw on it and no luck.
