The device ships with a simple quick-start guide, but the full manual is available for download from 3M; having the manual is a comfort but it is really unnecessary unless there is a malfunction with the device. The workaround is simple, just run the image through any photoshop-like application to reformat it and it works fine but it is puzzling that the problem exists at all. As stated in other reviews, this device is not really suitable for projecting presentations for groups, but I would highly recommend it for any more intimate setting such as display of photographs to a friend (setting it on a table and projecting onto a sheet of white cardboard works fine) and it is absolutely perfect for my wife's art application.I will update when I have her thoughts. I used the projector at night and thought the brightness was good if you are not trying to project in a huge room (which is the purpose this device was made for). I will comment about a few aspects: 1) Image: It is very clear and defined when projecting from the SD card, with nice bright colors. However, a big dissapointment was that when connected to a laptop the projector is not compatible with resolutions above 1024x768 (although the documentation says differently). The image would display but it had multiple horizontal dark lines which made it unreadable. 2) File compatibility: When projecting from a laptop and using powerpoint (at the right resolution) the slideshows look the way they are supposed to. But if you move your presentation to the SD card, the projector uses an application to convert it to a format it can project and in the process formatting is altered (not only fonts, but also spacing, pictures, and colors) This detracts from the portability advertised as one of the strongest points of the device. I tried with old and new (Office 2007) PPT files (same thing happened). PDFs display well. Did not try pictures or spreadsheets. Projecting YouTube videos when connected to a laptop works well. If it had problems with a laptop, I am assuming it won't project from Bluray players or HDTVs with out ports. 3) Connectivity: Has a USB port to transfer files (expected), an audio port (I don't see the point of connecting your laptop (with better sound) to use the projector's tiny speakers. The only video port is a VGA port, which is the likely culprit for the lower resolution image. You would expect that in a time when most new laptops are built with HDMI out ports you would have that or at least a Super Video port. But maybe there are limitations stemming from the size of the device. I don't have a comment on battery duration yet, but I noticed the projector got warm after a short period of operation. I would like to know if there is a way of changing the lamp when it dies.but I am guessing there is not. Pluses, are that it comes with a tripod and a little bag to carry. Even with these flaws I think it manages to be an acceptable projector that does the job and is portable at the same time. And that joke of a browser they have even in firmware 4.0 wasn't even worth the firmware space, it reminds me of the old Netscape project with an ancient windows ie feel.I'm not sure what the designers where thinking when they made this but they added lots of stuff (and charged for it), but at the end of the day, all the extras they added they only HALF added so its basically back to being nothing but a video slave (that only supports vga or standard video out, no HDMI).The picture is clear, the battery life is as promised and does not overheat quickly. However, as others noted the focussing control needs improvement.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again I knew it would not fill a bright room but in a dimmed room it is great. I tend to open it like a hard drive on my computer and drag and drop my created video files onto it, it has a 2GB microSD card slot. I create video slide shows with music using a nifty program called DVD PixPlay, (well worth purchasing) and convert these files to.avi files. To me that is the best feature; you can play these videos without having to connect it to a computer or power supply at your venue. You need to think of it as a WOW!! unit rather than a presentation workhorse, it's fun and personal. Really is pocket sized too and includes sound and around 2 hours of battery life. It has tiny built in speaker but not meaty enough to share with a group but simple cheap plug in battery MP3 speakers fix that. It is crazy that it comes with a quick set up guide but no operating instructions. I found the PDF manual on the 3M Website and downloaded it. Sorry, we failed to record your vote. OLED TV Which Instant Pot Should You Buy? 4K TV Buying Guide Soundbar buying guide Google Home vs. Amazon Echo Laptop Buying Guide MacBook Pro vs MacBook Air Nintendo Switch vs. Switch Lite: Which is better. This sector saw some bounce earlier this year with Microvision, Texas Instruments and 3M all talking up their respective micro projector ventures, which will eventually find themselves incorporated into cellular phones, cameras, etc. But the MPro110, available here and now, follows a more traditional route. A pocket-sized digital projector that handles feeds from both VGA and composite video sources, we’re happy to report that it’s a solid fit for the average road warrior. And yes, it really does fit in the palm of your hand. At roughly 4.5 inches long, two inches wide and just under an inch thick, the device is bigger and thicker than a Blackberry Pearl smartphone, but smaller than a 2.5-inch portable hard drive. The case is essentially an oblong box with rounded corners. The sides are black plastic, but the top plate, front end cap and door for the rechargeable battery on the back are matte silver. The imager technology is Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS). Light is provided by LEDs and output is rated at 12 lumens. The unit further consumes 1.5 watts and 3M states that the Lithium Ion battery will give 40-60 minutes per charge (it can of course be used while the AC adapter is plugged in). The MPro110 accepts VGA or composite video signals and has separate ports for each as well. 3M indicates that those two inputs should cover most of the devices you might be interested in connecting to the MPro110 including computers, PDAs, smartphones, camcorders, digital cameras or media players. The bottom has a quarter-inch threaded socket, handy for mounting the unit on a tabletop tripod. The unit is fan-less and the cooling grills on the top, side and bottom add some interesting surface texture too. In short, overall, it’s an attractively bland design. Setting up is therefore just a matter of plugging in the source video, aiming and focusing. Because the device is so small and light, adjusting its position can be a challenge, and this is where the quarter-inch threaded socket comes in handy. Mounting it on a tabletop tripod makes it easier to refine position so that you get a reasonably rectangular image. On our test unit, we couldn’t focus sharply once our projector-to-screen distances went beyond approximately five feet, although large text in PowerPoint slides could still be easily read. A bigger issue is the limited light output. Even entry-level tabletop projectors offer 1,200 Lumens of light output, so you can imagine that the MPro110’s output of 12 Lumens is dim, and to see an image projected from six feet away, you’ll need a darkened room. The inverse square law of light output teaches a strong lesson here: The bigger you want to project, the dimmer the image will be — and the more faded the color. However, colors were starting to lose their saturation. The big bonus here really being that the device is completely silent since it has no fan. This was quite distracting when projecting a computer display, since distortion is most noticeable on rectangular forms like documents or Web pages. When utilized with video content, it was less bothersome, and in both cases, the distortion wasn’t really noticeable towards the center. Worth noting: On our test unit, the lens focusing mechanism further seemed loose and prone to rattling. That’s quite short, but the cable is also too stiff and bulky, given the size of the device it is being connected to. The projector uses a proprietary connector, which was easy to dislodge when trying to position the unit.Think dim output; limited enlargement; a lens that’s not corrected for linear distortion; native VGA resolution; and a total dearth of added features like audio or HD inputs. But consider the gadget on its own merits, and there’s also much to add to the list of pluses. Frankly, what’s not to like about a battery-powered device that fits in your pocket and gives you a usable, virtual 30-inch display. As a first-generation proof of concept product, 3M’s MPro110 delivers a solid, satisfying performance. Regardless, there’s still plenty of room here for growth and refinement. If you use one of the small projectors, prepare to carry the gear with them. I have a 3M MPro 160. My guess is this presentation binder was designed for a smaller, now-discontinued 3M projector, and the larger 160 projectors are an uncomfortable cram in one of the three interior pockets. The other pockets accommodate the charger and the connector cables if they're coiled more tightly than I feel comfortable doing. There is a really cheap, flex-leg tripod included as well with the presentation binder. Amazon can't be expected to know everything about every product, but this case (and some cables) should not be paired with the new line of 3M projectors, because such pairings suggest the items will fit and work together. They don't. The great idea of the projector case is the projection screen built into the case cover. I don't think it would take many presentations for the screen to become bent, dented, dirty, and therefore unprofessional. On the other hand, matte board from an art supply store probably would be an acceptable replacement. It's stiff, hardly flexible, and looks as professional as polyester pants with a white belt. I don't think it would last many weeks before it would have that tired plastic look. If someone is going to spend several hundred dollars for a pico projector and accessories to be on the cutting edge of presentation technology, consider also that your accessories send a message as well. How do I know these things? First hand. I ordered the presentation binder and promptly returned it.
