The previous posters are correct in stating that the Bosch, like most other FLs, always does cold rinses. Cold rinses are supposed to reduce wrinkling and of course they also save energy. When the hoses are reversed, the washer will draw only hot water for the rinse. With reversed hoses, a hot cycle should take a long time since the washer would fill with cold water and then heat it to the selected temperature using the internal heater. It's probably a call center somewhere and the people there are probably not trained well. Most of the time they are just citing the manual and are clueless when you have additional questions. I went round and round with the Thermador people about my oven's sensors that went off when I broiled with a heavy aluminum sizzle plate. Finally I got someone smart who told me to put it midway down in the oven and on the left side since the sensor was on the upper right. Never had the problem again. But that was after 2 service calls and countless calls to Thermador. The guys who installed my washer said they loved them. Here in Phoenix there is no such thing as cold water out of a tap this time of year. Cold water from a tap is over 100 degrees, you can't take a cool shower, you can't wash your clothes in cold water. Even the water in the toilet is so warm that your behind will start to perspire if you sit on it long enough! Another repairman confirmed it, so I called customer service and they said yes, it is intentional. You can not do a heat-free, truly cold cycle with the Nexxt 800. The trouble with running a Refresh cycle is that it usually ends up sopping wet again. The best bet for resetting the issue is to run a full load again, but it isn't a sure-fix and I've had to run a load 3-4 times before it finally spins properly. Or more accurately, I've never pulled clothes from the tub and noticed them to be overly warm per-se. I use Charlie's Soap so cold water isn't a huge problem but I like the idea of precise control, at least. My 500 does -- did they eliminate that at some point. That'd be pretty dumb if they did because. Usually this only happens when I'm washing one large thing (full-size quilt, for instance) and it just doesn't wrap around the drum enough to balance right. It'll sit there and try and try, but never get in the groove.I use vinegar so again, not too much of a problem, but I've learned to wait until after it finishes filling the last time to add it. Since I still have an extended warranty I may get them out there to look at that and my (slightly) squeaky (but otherwise working) Nexxt dryer. Cold is 60F, which is pretty darned chilly to the touch, but not ice water. But that has nothing to do with rinse. The only cycle where the heater comes on is the WASH cycle. If you select cold wash and the water is colder than 60 degrees it will heat the water, in the wash cycle only, to try to maintain a water temp between 60-65 degrees. This is because detergent will not activate in temps lower than 60 degrees. Both rinse cycles are cold, tap temp, water and there is no heater activation during this time. So we were eventually given new machines!! I chose BOSCH, a reliable forward thinking brand, I've had various bosch products before with no issues, ever. Then these beastly machines. We got the washer and the dryer. The dryer is fine, does it's think no issues. I've not seen a top loader for decades before I came out to the usa (from the UK, remember the twin tubs, lol). So of course I wasn't going to get an agitator to ruin my clothes. The BoSCH washer has near on caused mental illness via the sheer agonizing, infuriating consistency of it's inability to balance and spin. There's no spin cycle of itself, so you have to go through a slow and harassing process of pushing buttons, waiting, pausing, manually repositioning, wringing out and starting the spin cycle again and again and oh it's 2-3am and I still have laundry to do. I would be better off with my late Grandmother's old twin tub, agitator included. No other front loader I've ever owned has stunk. If yours does stink I suggest cleaning it. This usually involves the hottest cycle or a clean cycle and a bottle of machine cleaning Clorox. I've done that twice in 4 years due to the filthy stuff that we've put in there. Clothes are always very clean. We use tide free and clear and occasionally fabric softner, while generally just use dryer balls. After 2 service calls it's not fixed. I'm replacing my washer with a top loader. Nevermind that the machine smells even with the door left wide open after finishing washing all loads. Towels will never smell good again. I think the smell is the case for all front loaders regardless of brand. But this machine cost a fortune and I'm replacing in a little over 2 years. Technician said it was good and strong. I replaced the connections to the capacitor as everything was rusty. So removed pump and spun motor by hand. It works! It agitates. It will complete wash cycle and then stop again and buzz behind control panel. I tried setting it on spin after all water drained out. Spun motor in opposite direction, nothing. Im perplexed. If motor works? Capacitor is fine? What’s the problem? Thank you! The lights on the washers doesn’t come on. When I push start,all it does make a humming sound. But, water won’t fill the basket. The agitator doesn’t move. What would have been a very expensive call-out turned out to be an elastic band caught around the impellers in the drain pump. If we turn the agitator as it is filling, by hand, it will start but once it gets to the rinse spin cycle it will not start on its own. Lights are flashing.
