The Great Gazoo 5.0 out of 5 stars It did take a bit of time to put together, but everything was in the box. I paired it up with a Bosch router and they fit perfectly. Some very minor cons - the way the side panel connects to the blue leg is annoying. It creates a pocket where you can store small things but the panel comes off very easily from the loose slots it sits in. A bit of glue can fix that though. Also there is no cord holder underneath the table for the router so the cord just dangles underneath. Lastly it took me a lot of time to level the plate to the table for some reason. There are hundreds of videos on how to build your own. But I rarely have time to add another project to my all ready too long to do list. I have a Bosch router that I checked to ensure compatibility. It worked out well. Assembly start to first test took about an hour and a bit. I make picture frames for my wife's etsy business and what I appreciate is the ability to turn my shop into an assembly line. Before I would secure each frame and router the rabbit in, then unsecure, then secure a new frame side, etc, etc. Now I have all my cut frame lengths router one after the other really quickly. We even got to adding fancy edging on the frames. It kicks up a lot of wood dust and chips so ensure you have a dust collector hooked up.Didn't want to spend all the time and money to build one.Cast aluminum and plastic. Now that I've been using it I would add that the included feather boards are extremely stiff. Enough tension to hold the material often means you have to hold the stand down with one foot while feeding. I recommend screwing the stand to the floor. Homemade feather boards work much better. I'm going up to 4 stars because for the price this thing rocks. Dispite the amount of work to install the router and set up the work.Paired with the DeWalt 618 router, this table has helped bring my ability to do quality finish woodworking to a new level. The unit is very sturdy and did not take too long to set up. Adjustments are accurate and the fence is true. I was pleased with the aluminum backing fence and the MDF face on the fence would be pretty easy to replace by just making a set of your own. I wasn't too sure about the plastic base, but it is sturdier than I would have thought. The feather boards included work well. Overall, I am glad I bought this table.Definitely recommended. The aluminium table and insert were flat, it assembled easily, the extruded aluminium fence is surprisingly stout and well machined and for me it hits the sweet spot for table size and portability for taking to a job site. I don't think you can build a better table for less money especially when they are on sale. The aluminum worksurface is flat and durable. The fence is robust and supports the table's use as a jointer table. All the right safety features and equipment are included. And, the table is very reasonably portable. A homerun from Bosch.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again The table is terrific and an incredible bang for your buck. My specific needs, though, were for a capable and PORTABLE router table. Regardless, I had portability to consider and a budget I wanted to stay within. My entire routing solution was as follows: I purchased the Dewalt 618 router package with the fixed and plunge bases. I mounted the fixed base to this Bosch table, leaving the plunge base available for buying a second DW618 motor only for handheld routing. Then, after a lot of research, I bought the DW7440RS Rolling Table Saw Stand. I may have the world's most portable routing setup. Haha! Anyway, it took me a lot of research to figure all of that out, but I feel those three items were a great compromise for my budget requirements. On the DW7440RS stand the Bosch RA1181 is sturdy but portable, and I've really been enjoying it!Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again It’s fine if you live in America, as it will plug in and probably work. You can’t even take the American plug off and add a U.K. one,as it’s a sealed plug fitting,if you do take it off and replace with a U.K. one,you will need to wire the American plug to your router to plug it into the American style socket. Complete waste of money, then you have to pay to send the thing back.they do contribute ?20.00 towards the cost. Amazon should be made aware of this as it’s a right carry on getting it shipped back to America and costly, bulky and heavy lifting. Extremely disappointed with the purchase, bought an expensive table thinking it would pay off in time,it’s cost me in the long run though.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Assembly was a breeze really. I got it mounted and running in 90 minutes. Identifying and sorting all your parts first will help. Having a ratchet with an allen-head socket will speed things along too. Although I would have preferred a full sized router table with a cabinet, my limited space made it impossible. (If I told you how small my shop was, you probably wouldn't believe it.) Naturally, in the process of buying something I really didn't want to buy, I did lots of research. I buy with value in mind employing a computation of price, quality, quantity, reputation and life cycle. I have NO allegiance to any brands or where any product is made. I had a chance to see and touch some of the competing models of bench top tables including Bosch's other model 1171 and rejected them all for one reason or another. The numbers (including a great sale price from Amazon) landed me on the RA1181 with trepidation after reading many reviews and not being able to get my eyes and hands on one. I fully expected to go into this with having to do my own machine work to the top in mind. As soon as I opened the package I went over the top with a 12 inch machinist's bar and a feeler gauge. I did it again after assembly. I found no high points and the lows did not exceed 0.004. I don't know about everyone else but, that's damned near perfect and less of a variant than I know I'll experience from the materials (wood) I'm working with. Wood, depending on how dense the species is, will expand and contract over time, humidity and temperature at least as much if not more than 0.004. If you want better than that, I would recommend prying out a few grand for a cast iron shaper. Testing by bridging the over the insert found it dead-on. That's good enough for me. I found the fence to be fine. The hardware is robust enough that they all stay put during operation and should last. I saw some complaints about the fence material. The metal extrusion is also dead on and the faces are what appears to be melamine. Good enough when you consider that they are sacrificial. Replacing them shouldn't cost much and they shouldn't really be replaced with anything other than what they are. I really like the dust extraction feature. Some bigger chips do fall underneath but, the flyable dust seems to be getting sucked up pretty well. I'll put the efficiency, conservatively, around 70.'your mileage may vary'. The included shims to set up for edge jointing is a nice touch and I've used it twice already. Works great. Speaking of 'nice touch', there is an outlet to support your shop vac or whatever you're using as a dust extraction system, a real time saver. No Miter Fence? The track on the table is not for a Miter Fence, it's for the feather boards. Everything I've studied says that you shouldn't use a miter fence on a router table or any other tool that has a parallel, rip, oriented fence. I square up a piece of scrap and tack a guide on the end so it follows the edge of the table top. Works fine, quick and easy to do and provides a nice back-up to prevent tear out. Downers: Of all the dimensions I was able to find prior to purchase, there was no mention of the base. There is a dimensional diagram on the box but, still no mention of the base bottom. I incorrectly assumed the dimension would be the same as the top. Be warned that the base, at the mounting holes, is wider than the table top. It didn't fit the workbench I had to make in advance of receiving the tool. I wish the carriage bolts in the feather boards were a little beefier but, that's only a little annoying in initial set up of a project. Yes, the base of the table is plastic but, it's made with enough ribbing support that it's very strong. The unit doesn't rack at all. I just wish the same theme was followed with the switch fascia. It's sort of adequately supported on one side only and feels cheesy as it deflects when operating the switch. But, it does work and we'll see if it lasts. I'll just have to discipline myself to use my fingers rather than my knuckles like I do all the rest of my tools. Summary: Other than those couple of nit-picks, I'm pleasantly surprised by the convenience and functionality of this tool and would recommended it to the small-shop woodworker without much reservation. I've done a couple of projects with it, got no surprises and it has already paid for itself in saved time and aggravation. The days of having to whack together all sorts of elaborate jigs to compensate for not having a router table are over, thank goodness.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Outside of that, it's just not what you would expect as a Bosch product.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again As noted by others, the table top isn't anywhere close to being flat. The pictures make it look like the top is machined flat, but that is pure deceit. I don't think aluminum can be stamped, but that's what it seems like they did. The surface is raised up around every hole and around the center insert. Small pieces of wood will ride over this top like going over waves. I had to clamp a piece of wood over it to make it flat enough to use. And then the fence - what a disappointing joke that is. The two pieces don't line up with each other and wood catches on the edges after passing by the router bit. I just tried cutting a dado which had two jogs in it caused by the wood passing by both edges of the fence. The leading edge catches on the left fence and the trailing edge drops off the right fence, making very visible jogs in the dado cut. Bits with bearings work fine because you're not relying on the fence for anything. I will spend a bit of time figuring out how to make this thing work better so I don't lose my money, but no one should have to do anything like that. This thing is more suitable to be a toy for little kids - without a real router in it. As it comes you can't do precision work with it. I love the Bosch router, but Bosch shouldn't be putting their name on this table, or make it a real router table. Go ahead and do what I did. I read the reviews and thought that with so many good reviews it can't be as bad as the bad reviews say it is, but it is every bit as bad as the bad reviews say it is. I wish I had put the two hundred bucks towards a real router table. I was just too impatient to wait and wanted something now, and wanted something cheap. This was one of the first tools I bought and I was surprised by how expensive decent tools are, but now I know it's better to save up a little longer and get decent tools instead of junk like this. Watch tutorial videos, you'll never see anyone using cheap stuff like this. They've been around long enough to know what is useful and what is junk. Anyone using this router table is a total beginner, or they've spent a bit of time making it work better.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again I mean seriously? Specifically purchased this for the metal top to avoid sagging, but the router plate is warped right out of the box.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again They are amazing. I bought this router table. It is complete junk. The table isn’t flat. It has nicks and scratches. My indicator shows a big swing. It is curved and warped despite being grounded. The same for the center plate that holds the router. It is warped. I’ve spent 2 hours trying to level everything, the “jack screws” are just steel nuts with a nylon insert the sit in a sloppy painted stamped hole. The underside of the mating face is not level. Any wiggling and I have to start over. It is missing the 4 lock nuts to bolt the router plate to the table so even if I got it level, I can’t bolt the thing down. I’ve been wanting one for a long time. Now that I have one, I’m just disgusted with the quality and that I can’t use it. Put your money into something else.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again However, the router table I received is warped. While many have already reported how finicky the process is to level the mounting plate, it is doubly difficult with a warped table. I double checked this using a 4 ft.This would inevitably lead to excessive stack-up tolerance. A handful of reviews and online videos report a poor production run with warped table tops. I'm going to give this another shot by requesting an exchange through Amazon. Don't settle for less. Bosch is known for quality but this one got through the QA process.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again But I got tip from someone giving a class there, how to build my own simple cheaper table, until I was able to step up to the larger table. I decided to keep the Bosch table and try it because it had already shipped, rather than build my own cheap DIY table. Unfortunately, the Bosch RA1181 router plate is not drilled for the Triton, which was disappointing. I'd read in other reviews people worked around it. So I did too (see pics I posted). It was a minor challenge trouble getting the holes dead on with a drill. I am cutting rails and styles without any problem whatsoever, and I don't even bother with having to insert the over the table crank to raise or lower the router, since this is a table top router the router is closer to eye level, I just reach under the table and very quickly adjust and micro adjust the height. It is perfect for the scale of work I'm currently doing. One of these days I may upgrade to a bigger table for bigger projects and enjoy more advanced, specialized and costly convenience features. But this should suit me well (and much less expensively) for most of the projects I foresee myself doing for awhile. I find this a powerful combination and square, solid, convenient and easy enough to use to produce some superb cabinet doors and myriad other things that go beyond the capabilities of the trim router I have. Very pleased. And the Triton router I have mounted in it is pretty quiet.
