Here’s What You Can Do March 25, 2018 Show all 1 Bosch Refrigerator’s Ice or Water Dispenser Not Working. March 11, 2018 Categories Bosch Ice Maker Refrigerator Help Water Dispenser Tags Is Your Bosch Refrigerator’s Ice or Water Dispenser Not Working.http://airsportstenerife.com/images/bosch-range-repair-manual.pdf Your Bosch refrigerator is one of the hardest working appliances in the home and something you probably can’t live without. The first thing you should do before attempting any repairs, disconnect power and turn off the water supply for safety reasons. Follow these simple tips to get your Bosch refrigerator ice and water dispensers working properly: Check the water filter When the water filter is clogged, it may cause no water at all or very slow water dripping from the dispenser. To maintain proper water flow, change the filter at least once in 6 months. Once you have replaced the water filter, test the dispenser for free water flow. Check if the water pressure is sufficient The home may have low water pressure. To operate properly, the water inlet valve requires from 20 to 120 psi. To help determine this, shut off the water supply, disconnect the supply line from the inlet valve, and hold the line over a bucket. Turn the water supply back on and observe whether or not there is a strong flow of water jetting out of the line. A weak flow indicates a problem with the water line or the water supply valve. Make sure there is no air in the line If your Bosch refrigerator has been recently installed, there may be air in the line. Push the water dispenser lever down for 3 minutes. For this period, the water reservoir will fill up completely. If water still does not dispense, make sure the water supply line is connected to the refrigerator properly and the water pressure meets the requirements for your refrigerator model. You can find instructions in the user manual. If further assistance is needed, call to schedule an appointment with our professional refrigerator repair technician. Make sure the water supply tube is not frozen A frozen water supply tube leading to the icemaker tray or the water dispenser can also impede dispenser functions. You can heat the supply tube by heating it with a hairdryer, but be aware that a frozen supply tube is usually caused by insufficient water pressure or a defective inlet valve. Check if the water line valve is open For refrigerator to receive water, the water line valve to your refrigerator should be completely open. Denver Appliance Pros can help you. Call us to schedule an appointment with one of our professional repair technicians. He will diagnose your Bosch refrigerator and fix the problem at the soonest possible time. Possible faulty hardware that could be causing issues. Faulty dispenser switch The dispenser switch sends voltage to the dispenser. The switch, actuated by the dispenser lever, could be faulty. Depending on the model, you may be able to use a multi-meter to test the switch for continuity a continuous electrical path present in the switch. If the switch tests negative for continuity, it will need to be replaced. Defective ice dispenser control board If all of the dispenser functions are disrupted, then the ice maker control board itself may be defective. While the board cannot be easily tested, you can inspect it for signs of burning or shorted out component. Malfunctioning door switch The door switch disables the ice and water dispenser when the refrigerator door is open. A malfunctioning door switch may prevent the dispenser from operating even when the door is closed. As with the dispenser switch, you can use a multi-meter to test the door switch for continuity to determine if the switch has failed electrically. Faulty water inlet valve The water inlet valve opens to supply water to the dispenser. The inlet valve can fail both mechanically and electrically. A mechanical failure could be caused by the build-up of mineral deposits, preventing the valve from opening. If this happens, the valve will need to be replaced. Trying to clean out an old valve is not recommended due to the risk of part failure after repair. To determine if the inlet valve has failed electrically, use a multi-meter to test the valve solenoid coils for continuity. If one or more of the coils test negative for continuity, the inlet valve will need to be replaced. Defective main control board A defective main control board could result in the ice or water dispenser not working. As with the dispenser board, you can inspect the main board for signs of burning or a shorted out component and replace it with a new one provided all of the other dispenser components are working properly. We have identified the most common things that might be causing your Bosch refrigerator not to work properly, but there are other parts that could be at fault as well. Do not hesitate to call us and schedule a Bosch refrigerator repair appointment. According to research from the spruce website, you can reduce the amount of water you use in your home using the water dispenser. If you pay for water by the gallon, a water dispenser will eliminate running the faucet for several seconds to draw cold water. Save your money and improve water quality with your properly working water dispenser. In the past couple of months I noticed that freezer section wasn't producing enough cold to freeze the produces. Every week it would produce less and less cold. Finally, it's at the point when it's making some cold, but not enough to freeze anything, not even a water. There was ice formed up on a couple of shelves and very little on a back wall. Looks like freezer is getting cold, but still not enough to freeze. When you were looking for the defrost heater, you did look at the freezer coils and right below those. Were the freezer coils covered in frost. Thanks, Barry Ask Your Own Appliance Question Customer reply replied 6 years ago Unfortunately I could not figure out an easy way of opening the back wall from inside the freezer. When I used to GE refrigerator, the defrost heater was right on a bottom covered in a little plastic box. All I had to do was open a box and defrost was right there. But in this Bosch refrigerator, I'm not sure where the defrost heater is. I needed some help on figuring out how to open a back wall without breaking anything. What are the proper instructions on doing this. Also, what do you think the problem may be. Appliance Technician: Barry G., Home Appliance Technician replied 6 years ago I have a service manual on the thing and it does not show me enough to be able to tell you where all of the screws are to be able to get to it. I can see the defrost heater is huge, you couldn't miss it. Is there frost on that rear wall in the freezer. Barry Ask Your Own Appliance Question Customer reply replied 6 years ago The frost on a back wall from the inside of freezer is not significant, but it's there. For example when a defrost heater broke in my GE fridge a long time ago, the back wall was totally covered in snow and ice. And it was very easy to spot a defrost heater. In my current Bosch fridge, the back wall has some water on it that's frozen. When I touch it, it feels like ice. However, I'm not sure where the defrost heater is behind that wall. And also I'm not sure whether or not it is the defrost heater or something else that maybe causing it. Please see the image below. Excellent picture. I have been called out and I am going to have to relist your question for all techs to review. I am sorry, I have to go. You take the best of care and thank you for the opportunity. Barry Ask Your Own Appliance Question Customer reply replied 6 years ago Will someone get back to me. What's my next step in terms of this service. Appliance Technician: Kelly, Appliance Technician replied 6 years ago Kelly, Appliance Technician Category: Appliance Satisfied Customers: 31,905 Experience: Highly accurate diagnostician with over 30 years experience. Verified Thanks for counting on us to help with your appliance problem. That does not look like a defrost issue to me but more of lack of air flow. Is the fan motor running in the freezer. Can you remove that back panel from inside the freezer to expose the evaporator coil. Ask Your Own Appliance Question Customer reply replied 6 years ago I have removed the rear wall. I see the defrost heater and coils. What's next? Also, what is this fan for. What is its' function. I just turned the refrigerator back on and saw how FAN was working. As soon as I opened Freezer's door FAN slowly stopped circulating. Another test that I've done a few moments later was this. I opened Freezer's door again after about 10 minutes and FAN wasn't working. So I pressed and held the button that gets by the freezer's door when it's closed. I decided to manually hold that button. As I was holding it FAN was trying to start, I saw the motion, but it wouldn't circulate. I gave it a push start with a finger and it started working. Then I released the door button and FAN stopped working. Then I tried the same thing again. It looks like FAN only works with a push start. Not sure why it worked when I first plugged the refrigerator in. Finally, I let it sit working for 10 minutes. Then I opened freezer's door and FAN was working normally. Then after 5 minutes I tried it again and FAN was working fine. Appliance Technician: Kelly, Appliance Technician replied 6 years ago The fan circulates the air around the compartments and, as I suspected, will need to be replaced. The correct fan motor for your model is available below. They offer a 100 money back guarantee, EVEN ON INSTALLED ELECTRICAL PARTS, for an entire year. Ask Your Own Appliance Question Customer reply replied 6 years ago But my FAN does work. Why do you insist it needs replacing. Am I missing something. Is this a different FAN than the one that I'm talking about. The FAN that I was talking about sits right behind the Ice Maker. Is that the same one you're talking about. Appliance Technician: Kelly, Appliance Technician replied 6 years ago I am a bit confused. You said it needs a bit of help to get turning at times. The pictures you posted are indicative of poor air flow. Ask Your Own Appliance Question Customer reply replied 6 years ago Sorry for the confusion. In the beginning it looked like it was trying start, but it didin't. However, after a while it turned on each time the door closed. I guess I can try buying it and then if it still not working I can return it. Is that right? Appliance Technician: Kelly, Appliance Technician replied 6 years ago If ordered through the link I sent, yes. They allow returns on installed parts. Has it been cooling well now. Ask Your Own Appliance Question Customer reply replied 6 years ago Well, it's off now, but yesterday it was running all day and FAN was spinning, but it wasn't freezing, only some cold air circulated. But no freezing. Appliance Technician: Kelly, Appliance Technician replied 6 years ago If that is the case, you may have a sealed system issue. Intermittent issues can be very difficult to diagnose. I would start by replacing that fan motor. Ask Your Own Appliance Question Customer reply replied 6 years ago The freezer hasn't been freezing, even at the lowest temperature setting. How would FAN make it start freezing. Could it be the thermostat or else. Appliance Technician: Kelly, Appliance Technician replied 6 years ago Well, if the fan does not circulate the air, the cold will simply settle at the bottom of the freezer and the compressor will run excessively, causing it to overheat and shut off. Appliance Technician: Kelly, Appliance Technician replied 6 years ago Sounds good, thank you. Ask Your Own Appliance Question Customer reply replied 6 years ago Hi, I have finally received the motor with fan. Could you please explain how to remove the old one. I've been trying to remove it, but can't figure out how to. Or maybe you would have a video or an image of the disassembly. Appliance Technician: Kelly, Appliance Technician replied 6 years ago The back panel in the freezer section will need to be removed after the shelves have been taken out. Kelly, Appliance Technician Category: Appliance Satisfied Customers: 31,905 Experience: Highly accurate diagnostician with over 30 years experience. Verified Kelly and 87 other Appliance Specialists are ready to help you Ask your own question now Customer reply replied 6 years ago I have replaced the fan. I assembled everything back and turned the refrigerator back on. It's been running since 3:30pm and it is now 6:20. I have opened the freezer to check the temperature and it doesn't feel like it's freezing. It's definitely cold like it was before, but it's not freezing. What's the next step. Appliance Technician: Kelly, Appliance Technician replied 6 years ago Is the fan running continuously now. If you leave the unit running and remove that back panel to expose the coil (below the fan), is there an even frost pattern over the entire coil or just a portion of it. Ask Your Own Appliance Question Customer reply replied 6 years ago Yes, fan is running. The frost is evenly spread out through coil. Appliance Technician: Kelly, Appliance Technician replied 6 years ago Is there so much frost that it is blocking air flow. If so, thaw the coil and then see if the temperatures improve. Ask Your Own Appliance Question Customer reply replied 6 years ago Not really, it's looks normal. The coil is covered evenly, but I wouldn't say it's too much. Appliance Technician: Kelly, Appliance Technician replied 6 years ago If the coil is frosted evenly and the fan is running, it should be cooling fine. Ask Your Own Appliance Question Customer reply replied 6 years ago I will check the freezer later tonight when I return from work. However, it wasn't freezing. Last night I put a battery pack (portable fridge) in the freezer and left it there overnight. It was soft this morning, far from frozen. Appliance Technician: Kelly, Appliance Technician replied 6 years ago Okay, keep me posted. Ask Your Own Appliance Question Customer reply replied 6 years ago I would like say thank you for helping me resolve my problem. The freezer is now working. It's producing enough cold to freeze stuff. I set it at 0 degrees and I set fridge at 39. Looks like it both are working normal. Thank you! Was this answer helpful.
