Bosch units should be commissioned on installation and regular services at intervals of every 2 years which should ensure such fluctuations do not occur. A controller will be required to adjust the outlet request temperature as required by local regulations. If the older HighFlow version is used then ensure that the serial number has an “H” to confirm solar suitable and able to accept high temperatures. Customers will be charged if the issue is found not to be covered by the Bosch warranty. What can we check? You should ask a plumber to inspect all gas piping and connections on the household gas supply line to check for any gas leaks and seal them if found. Have the appliance be serviced to ensure correct operation which will ensure maximum energy efficiency. What can I do?Since the air is necessary for complete combustion of the gas, these openings cannot be blocked off.http://superbia.lgbt/flotaganis/1648459707 We recommend performing regular inspections around the appliance, and if the vermin infestation continues, consult with a qualified pest exterminator about possible solutions based on local conditions. The use of flammable sprays around the water heater is only advisable after the appliance is turned off and disconnected from the power supply. If you do spray around the water heater, you should wait 30 minutes before turning on appliance. All water heater installation and operating instructions now include the attached water quality statement. View it here. Alternatively, the plumber can inspect the plumbing fixture. A plumbing inspection should take place and old or faulty tapware replaced. Most tapware have inbuilt filters or strainers to aerate and create smooth flow of water. These should be inspected and cleaned as they could be restricting the flow of water. This may take up to 60 seconds depending on the specific set up of the hot water. They do not store any hot water in the system which makes then energy efficient compared to the gas storage which operates like a large kettle. When the hot water tap is open, the unit will start the ignition process, open the valves, operate the burner and start delivering hot water. Often the time to deliver hot water is influenced by the length of the hot water piping and insulation characteristics. There is no set time for hot delivery to the tap as each application and installation differs but 45 seconds or greater can be normal. Wait for at least 30 seconds before plugging into the power point again and switching on the power. For customers using natural gas please check the gas meter assembly ensuring that the main valve is open. Contact your local gas authority if no gas is available or the gas valve is turned off as there may be a reason. For customers using LPG, check that the gas cylinders are heavy or full. Ensure that the supply valve is open. Check Elgas website for checking cylinders.http://chamabusinesscenter.com/images/bosch-tas1000uc-manual.pdf In cold climate areas the power also provides frost protection for the appliance. If the water heater will not be used for extended periods, it is recommended that the system be drained of water. Special consideration should be given to the need to increase temperature based on the application and hot water requirements to prevent scalding. Retro fitting of temperature selector pads is possible with minimum difficulty. You may not have more than one temperature at different outlets at the same time; the hot water unit can only deliver one temperature at a time, even though you may have multiple temperature selector pads. Please refer to the customer manuals provided with the product to understand how to adjust priority from a main to a bathroom controller. The unit makes this automatic adjustment in preparation for the next time that that a tap is opened to deliver hot water. This adjustment prepares the unit to generate hot water with maximum responsiveness and efficiency. If the Optiflow has a Bluetooth function then you can connect to the appliance via the Bosch Water App to establish the current fault code. See how to connect to the App here. When the HighFlow unit is turned back on you may hear a small sound When the Optiflow unit is turned back on the fan will operate for approx. 20 seconds as an initial purging. Can I perform any checks prior to booking a service call? These should only be checked by a qualified plumber or service technician using suitable equipment and measuring devices. Consumers can perform simple checks like, ensure the gas valves at the meter or cylinders are fully open, and check that the supply valves at the hot water system are open correctly. Tapware in the house can also create restrictions and it is important to regularly inspect the water restrictors and aerators to ensure not blocked with grit and grimes. In some situations the water heater performance may benefit if the water restrictors are removed. Will I be charged if there is no manufacturing fault with the product? The warranty doesn’t cover faults external to the product such as water, gas and power supply to the unit or other performance issues caused by external factors. If the unit is not covered by the warranty then the customer will be charged for the inspection of the appliance. However we suggest that it is better to make payment to our trained service agent to inspect the water heater and provide an educated evaluation on the performance of the unit than involving another plumber. This is required to be purged from the system. The best method is to operate the gas cooktop for a period of time and observe the flame. If the flame extinguishes then repeat igniting the gas until the air is exhausted and the LPG arrives. You will often hear the sound change between the gas and the air. To purge the air using the hot water system turn of the power to the appliance, remove the plug, wait 10 seconds and plug back into the power point. Turn on the hot water tap fully and allow to run for 5 seconds, Turn off the tap and wait 5 seconds, Turn back on the tap and operate for 5 seconds, repeat the process until hot water arrives. This process will attempt to ignite the gas in the appliance but will also allow any air to be purged through the ignition process. Please don’t turn on and off rapidly as this may not perform the full ignition process. Please allow adequate time for the hot water to travel through the pipes once ignition is achieved. If no response please ensure the following checks Gas cylinder valves open, Power point on and appliance plugged in. Power at the power point. Controller if connected is on While someone is turning on the tap watch the water heater and listen for the ignition process, feel if heat generated from the flue outlet. How do I connect? Can I establish the current fault code?To download a current customer manual please refer this link. However without a Bosch Optiflow controller or Bluetooth enabled appliance you cannot view these messages. To connect to the Bluetooth app refer to the instructions contained in the installation and customer manuals or refer to the video help page here. The low voltage electricity generated by the hydrogenerator turbine provides the power required to ignite the appliance. The low voltage electricity generated by the hydrogenerator provides the power required to ignite the appliance The minimum flow rate will depend somewhat on the position of the water flow selector knob of the appliance, and the water pressure to the water heater. For locations where frequent frost occurs, an internal Hydropower model or internal OptiFlow would be more suitable, or one of the external Highflow models with builtin frost protection circuit may be more appropriate. If this short period expires without ignition then a re-ignition attempt will be required. The hot water tap should be turned off, and then on again. If this fails to work then you can test the appliance with the assistance of a second person. Ask someone to activate a tap while the other stands near the water heater. Once the tap is turned on the person at the water heater needs to observe the water heater. The correct operation of the water heater can be observed by: (a) listening for the spark ignition, (b) observing the main burner flame through the cover. If the heater still fails to ignite, please call the Bosch Contact Centre on 1300 30 70 37 who will be able to recommend a suitably qualified service technician who will be able to attend your water heater. What should I do?Bosch has a comprehensive network of Authorised Service Agents around Australia, each of whom will be able to service your water heater. Bosch recommends a safety and service inspection at least every 2 years, and a recommended service checklist is available from Bosch which should be completed by the attending service technician. The service technician was advised it was caused by vermin. What can I do?Since the air is necessary for complete combustion of the gas, these openings cannot be blocked off. If you do spray around the water heater, you should wait 30 minutes before turning on appliance. Hold the side of the cabinet and pull forward and slightly down which will disengage the front cover. Once free, hold and support cover and safely remove to a suitable location. To reinstall, locate the top of the cover near the top supporting bracket and slide into position, push back, and locate cut outs on thumb screws. (Require pictures of cover removal). The Hydropower water heater temperature cannot be pre-set like the Highflow products, however, the performance can be adjusted to supply more or less water flow and to increase or decrease the temperature of the unit. Water Flow: The water flow can be adjusted by rotating the water flow selector knob clockwise for decreased water flow, or anticlockwise for increased water flow. Increased water flow will give lower water temperature, and decreased water flow will give higher water temperature. Gas Rate: The amount of gas going to the burner can be adjusted by moving the slide from left to right. Sliding to the right will increase the gas burner rate while moving to the left will decrease the gas rate. The gas rate will affect the temperature of hot water delivered by the water heater, this adjustment is useful in situations where incoming water temperature differs significantly from summer to winter. The additional time taken for the hot water to get to the hot tap depends on the length and size of the household’s hot water pipe between the water heater and the hot tap. High performance tempering valves are always suggested to provide complete and safe mixing. Please click here The service technician was advised it was caused by vermin. What can I do?Where there are vermin including ants, spiders and other small creatures, it is advisable to perform regular inspections on the appliance. Customers should consult with a qualified pest inspector about possible solutions based on local conditions. The use of flammable sprays is only advisable after the appliance is turned off and disconnected from the power supply. Please wait ? hour before turning on appliances. Setting the Date can be found in the “Set” section of the controller. View the How to Video here. Setting the program can be found in the “prog” section of the controller and by selecting P1, P2 or P3 Please note that a program timings needs to be set before selecting a program to operate on. Please note if you set a program the unit will only operate in the defined period to recover the tank. View the How to Video here. Setting up a program can be found in the “Set” section under “Prog” of the controller. Please note that a program should only be set when power supply benefit can be achieved such as solar PV. The program settings enable the heat pump to operate in the defined periods. If the time periods are not adequate to allow recovery of the tank then adequate hot water may not be available. View the How to Video here. The outside temperature will influence the recovery rates greatly and in winter a recovery rate of 8 to 12 hours is possible normal. This is a onetime boost. The Boost function speeds up the recovery time. Please contact Bosch to receive a detailed copy of operating the “HEA” function or refer to the installation and customer manual. Noise is very subjective and other background noise, walls, fences and distance to surrounding objects will affect the perception of noise. The heat pump should be serviced every 2 years which includes an inspection of the refrigeration system. The installing plumber needs to ensure that the appliance is installed level and that they connect a suitable drain hose to the heat pump. If the condensate builds up in the units then it may effect the long term performance of the unit. Customer can check if the appliance is installed level as part of regular inspection. Ground movement may cause the unit to become un-level. The tank is also fitted with TPR valve which is also designed to pass water due to thermal expansion. The installing plumber should connect suitable piping to allow it to drain correctly as per the installation standard. A master reset of the heat pump can also be achieved by entering the “set” function and proceeding to “Fset” pushing “ok” see “rset” pushing “ok” and then observing the 10 second count down. The temperature will need to be reconfirmed, any program settings reprogrammed, date and time checked and the set point temperature reconfirmed. We recommend using our service agents who have information on general servicing of the appliance. In general we recommend the service cover the inspections of the plumbing systems of the heat pump as well as the refrigeration system which will require the inspection by a refridgeration mechanic. The heat pump controller should be reset by pushing the OK key but the electric element should also be inspected and reset if required. This is behind the cover on the electric tank and 240 volt is present. Please contact Bosch at 1300 30 70 37 for instructions on this reset procedure. Additional support can be found by referring to these FAQ’s, technical information sheets, Bosch You tube channel, or by contacting Bosch directly or the place of purchase. Water softening is at the discretion of the installing plumber. Where water is not at the defined levels then this could affect the performance of the water heater, create recovery issues and cause fault codes to appear. Regular servicing including flushing of the plate heat exchanger or associated pipe work is required every 2 years but may be required and shorter intervals where the water is hard. Issues caused by poor water quality, lack of service and deposits in the heat exchanger are not covered by the manufacturing warranty. Your water quality should be discussed with your installing plumber or water supplier to understand the water PH levels and total hardness levels. Refer to our warranty page here. If a ring main is installed then please discuss the application with Bosch so recommendations can be made. If the unit appears to showing “LEG” on the screen it may mean that the units cannot complete this function. Customers should consider some of the following, reset the appliance, turn of the water overnight in case of water leaks on the hot water piping, ensure the internal pump speed is set to Speed 3 or arranging for a general service of the product. When there is an interruption to the gas supply or no gas in cylinders, the water heater will make repeated attempts to light. If the water heater has not lit after a set number of attempts, the water heater will shut down as a safety precaution, and a reset will be required.LPG is best supplied in 45Kg cylinders, and multiple cylinders may be required. The low temperature potential in your area will also be a factor the plumber will take into consideration because the liquid in the bottle has to vaporizes and low temperatures reduce the ability of the liquid to become a gas. We also highly recommend that you do not use BBQ cylinders (9 kg cylinders or smaller) with your Hot Water System. When purchasing your Gas cylinder, we advise that you discuss with your LPG supplier to arrange for an auto change over system for your LP gas to ensure you have a continuous supply of gas. However you must still regularly check to see if the valve has automatically changed and arrange for the empty cylinder(s) to be filled. You must still regularly check to see the valve has automatically changed, and arrange for the empty cylinder(s) to be filled. Please discuss this with your LPG supplier. This is required to be purged from the system. If no response please ensure the following checks Gas cylinder valves open Power point on and appliance plugged in Controller if connected is on While someone is turning on the tap watch the water heater and listen for the ignition process, feel if heat generated from the flue outlet. We have no relationship with advertisers, products, or services discussed at this website. We also discuss the conditions, maintenance, and factors that affect how long a water heater can be expected to last. Alan Carson is a past president of ASHI, the American Society of Home Inspectors.
