Jesus Hector Fernandez 4.0 out of 5 stars In outdoors the Vado is absolutely great, unless its night time.http://schoolinglog.com/sawaree/sources/userfiles/test1/Uimages/ecs-rs400-a-motherboard-manual.xmlIn indoors is where I found to have problems with the Vado (maybe just my unit but here goes) it seems that in bright light rooms all white objects like (shirts, even skin) seem too bright and appear like if they were wet, other than that mostly everything else looks great.Ease of use, well the manual really doesnt explain very well how to use it but it is so simple that its not much of a problem, if you have a windows based PC then downloading your videos to the PC will be a breeze, since the Vado has the software already installed, this software will left you see the videos, delete them or upload to youtube or photobucket.A good point though is that in places where the sound is VERY HIGH, I entered a concert with the Vado and a Creative Zen, I put the Creative Zen to record (with its built in MIC) and also the vado, the ambient sound was so high that the Creative Zen could not record it properly and all I got was.I'm happy with my Vado since I was able to record almost 3 hours of video without having to buy many tapes or dvds (like you do with normal video camera) and I only had to recharge the battery once.This is really a written review with a sample of video with little commentary. Pros: Small - Its the size of an iPod but slightly thicker Light - The case is made of rubber and plastic making it superlightweight. Sturdy - Although made of plastic the feel of the unit is quite sturdy. Rechargeable batteries - Plug into a USB and charge, Voila! (The flip requires 2 batteries). Capacity - at low video quality you can get 2 hours. Highly recommend the high quality. Cons: Ultra sensitive mic - WHen I click on the rear buttons to zoom, you can hear it on the playback. Location of the USB plug - With a fold out USB cable on the bottom it leaves for some akward positions for your camera while charging in a non-computer (iPod brick). No steady cam - If you have jittery hands (thanks Starbucks!), the video can be shaky making playback outright vomit inducing (Blair Witch Project ring a bell?). Video Quality Disclaimer Video - This is more of a disclaimer than a con. Some people may want one of these to replace an older video camera (DVC, 9MM, etc.) don't. If you truly want a replacement for an older video camera I would strongly suggest the HD version of the Vado or the Mino HD. This should be looked at as a handy video camera to have for random moments. Its perfect for Youtube-ing. Bottome line - nifty gadget, great price, good value! 4 out of 5 stars!I own the Flip Ultra, the Flip Mino HD, as well as a VADO. VADO is similar to the Flip Ultra, with a larger screen, and rechargeable battery. Picture quality is about on par with the Flip Ultra, but not as crisp as the much more expensive Flip Mino HD, or probably the VADO HD version. The regular VADO is a breeze to use - just charge it and you are ready to shoot. Great for on-the-spot moment,and even better if you pre-plan and frame a scene. If you have been wondering about video email -- try this. Friends and family far away or overseas enjoy short video clips. And why not use this for business too. I can easily imagine a video clip being of use for a job interview or resume. Might even be the unique boost you need, to put you at the top of the list. It is one of, if not the, slimmest flash-based cameras, and quite light, meaning that it can be kept in a jeans pocket with no problems. It boots up in just a couple of seconds, which allow it to be useful for spontaneous video capture. The video quality isn't excellent but it is very good, quite a bit better than the best cellphone and more than sufficient for online video posting. The worst part of the camera is its inability to use its built-in software with Mac OS X, and that iMovie can't directly work with its files (although that's more Apple's failure, but still you can do it with a Flip Ultra HD), and the little tab on the bottom makes it unable to just stand upright on the table (I got a little tripod which fixes that). The best part of the camera is the size, super easy to hold in one hand while driving or talking, or anything else. I bought the Vado just before the new Flip HD came out, but even still I would get this one again. The sounds microphone can pick up some extra noise so in a large lobby area for instance the person standing a few feet away may sound like they are 15 feet away but when that same person is standing in your kitchen the microphone picks up the sound wonderfully.Ants probably love this font. Mabe they were beeing green by eliminating 10 pages and shrinking it down to 2 small pages. The USB cable that is comes with is simple to connect or use the USB on the unit itself and it automatically pops up the basic screen to choose and upload the vid's - simple easy basic - not going to make big time movies with it but sure is better than anything you or i had ever paid a lot more money for in our lifetime.Read full review. They charge easily by plugging into a computer. They last a couple of hours on one full charge and they hold up to an hour of footage. They are portable and have a zoom function. The audio is recorded through a camera mic and for family use or teaching the processes of TV production, the camera is perfect. If you are looking for a camera with lots of special effects, iris settings, and large zoom capacity, then this is not the camera for you. But if you are interested in a small camera that provides fun for family events or like me, if you are teaching production values and editing for an introduction class, the first generation VADO is a good fit. I recommend using the clear skin which comes with it to help prevent it from getting scuffed up. Also, don't forget to upgrade the firmware and install the Vado Central application update on the unit. All of these items can be picked up fairly cheap on eBay. Otherwise you will receive garbage on the screen. I only had the unit freeze a few times when plugging into my computer running Linux. This hasn't occur yet when plugging into my system running Windows. Overall, I am very impressed by this unit. Read full review. Pros: Wide angle lens is nice, video quality is very good, can record up to 2 hours of plus quality HD content, small and light. The built in USB connection makes it easy to plug it in and transfer videos onto your computer for editing. When you plugin the Vado to your computer the built in software will automatically start. The software does a Ok job of creating a video from various clips BUT.One nice option that you have is instant uploading of your video to youtube and some other video hosting sites. Youtube will automatically render your video in HD mode so that your vi ewers can view your video online in high def. Overall, this camera is will worth the money and with a little searching online you can find this camcorder at a great deal. Enjoy! Read full review. Love the built-in software that will work on 99 of PC's and is Windows Movie Maker friendly. Only negative i have about it is the sound quality. The simplicity of this device is really what sold me on it. I purchased 2 of these on ebay for a fraction of the retail price. The video quality is very good and the easy to use controls made it very user friendly. Pros: Easy to use, good HD video quality, more storage than the Flip Mino HD, supplied HDMI cable, good battery life, easily fits in your pocket and includes a silicon protective skin. Cons: Microphone could be a little more sensitive, limited zoom and controls could be more clearly marked (difficult to see, esp after skin was installed). I am a motorcycle vlogger and have been looking for the perfect camera that would fit into my helmet and allow for a first person view while I talk. After extensive research I decided to go with this camera over any other because of it's great reviews. I am happy to say after testing it and uploading a couple of videos to youtube with it that this is a very nice camera for it's price. It has great picture quality and feels like a very solid camera.
