Generally very similar to the 3400 series.Many features of the 5400 are now available on the 5500 series, but where the 5400 were certified for use with EqualLogic iSCSI arrays, the 5500 never passed the acceptance tests.They offer 24 or 48 Gigabit Ethernet ports with (-P series) or without PoE. All 5500 series models (5524, 5524P, 5548 and 5548P) can be combined in a single stack with up to 8 units per stack.The 5500P series are mainly client access switches connecting VOIP phones and (daisy chained or directly connected) workstations. The -P series are also used to power other devices than phones, such as WiFi Access-points, IP camera's or thin clients.The 5500 series switches are mainly designed to be pure layer 2 switches but it has some very basic layer 3 capabilities. I only have one other port connected, and I've tried it in several. If not auto-sensing, then there is no information about how to configure the switch (it is unmanaged). Seriously, the guys in the networking support there are real gurus. Now the switch has completely stopped working (power, presumably). I was looking on the back where the cables are connected and noticed that. Hello Jlhambric. The Dell PowerConnect 2124 is an unmanaged switch. Plug and play with no interface. As such, it should not have an IP address at all. If you are refering to the router IP's then simply turn on the DHCP option it will. If so what is the wiring diagram for this? If so what is the wiring diagram for this. Here are some useful links. Is there software that can be use to search and find the device to find its IP and configure from there? The switch supports the following browsers: Microsoft IE V6.x and higher, and Mozilla. The system internally configures the device according to Web-based input (including menu selections, mouse clicks, etc.). The device is delivered in Unmanaged Mode. The device must be changed to Managed Mode before it can be configured. To change to Managed Mode, the device must be fully operational in Unmanaged Mode (Managed Mode LED has stopped blinking and is off). Once the Managed Mode LED has stopped blinking, press the Managed Mode button. The switch reboots and the Managed Mode LED blinks for approximately 90 seconds and stays lit. When the Managed Mode LED stays lit, the switch is ready to be configured. The default IP address is 192.168.2.1, the default User Name is 'admin', and the default password is left blank. It may come up as an unknown device, but that will still reveal the IP and you can take it from there. Are you using a subnet of 192.168.2.x? If not connect a machine to one of the switch ports configured with a static IP address in the 192.168.2.x network and try access the interface then. And if you are not on 192.168.2 then change the IP address for the management interface to an IP address on your network. Optionally connect to the switch with a serial cable connected to a computer and use hyperterminal or putty to access the CLI interface on the device and make you settigns changes or at least change the IP to something on your network, then access it through the web interface. I few months ago, I changed my three 2748's to managed mode. I followed the instructions in the user guide exactly and it wouldn't work. Once I got support involved, they gave me very specific instructions, which were not the same as in the user guide. The instructions I got from support worked perfectly on the first two, I had a little trouble with the third one, but got it to work. It was my mistake as I was on the wrong subnet. Changed the IP of a workstation connected to the switch directly to be on the same subnet, gained access, change the IP of the switch to be on my main networks subnet and it all works now. Thanks.
