The one disappointing thing about it is that the flow rate falls off pretty quickly with time. We're in San Francisco, and our cold water before we installed the filter flowed at 1.6 gallons per minute (gpm). Immediately after installing a new filter the flow rate is 1.2 gpm, which is quite tolerable, but it falls down to 0.7 gpm over the following two months, at which point it levels off.http://www.astik.sk/bosch-hdi7282u-manual.xml

The final flow rate is annoying enough that I finally measured our most recent one every week or two after installing it. A graph is attached. I'm not sure why the flow rate creeps up slightly after two months, but I took each measurement three times, and the variance between successive measurements was never more than 1. In practice, we end up replacing ours about every 100 days.Installed Saturday, reading all the instructions carefully. Ran it for 10 minutes. No leaks. Enjoyed filtered water on Sunday, and clean tasting coffee on Monday morning. Came home Monday evening after work, and the house was flooded. The cold water push-in coupling had failed, and the hose was blown off the valve. Water had been gushing out for hours. There is a problem with the connectors of this unit.However, the last two replacement filters we've received had small cracks in them causing water to spray all over the place when turning the water pressure back on. The first time it happened, we thought it was a fluke. But the second time it happened made us question the quality control of the filter. So now we plan to carefully inspect each replacement filter we receive and exchange them if we detect any cracks. The non-defective filters are smooth to the touch. The defective ones you'll discover something that feels like a scratch in the housing. This is the crack that, when under pressure, will open and spray water in under your sink and in your kitchen. I'd give this a 5 star rating if they can fix it because we love the filter. However, until they do, it's 2 stars. I'll update this review when I can get a filter that isn't defective!I had mine switched from the GOLD lettering to GREEN which is a lesser product but I was charged for the GOLD. As soon as I installed it, I tried the water with a TDS water quality tester and it kept reading 156.Without the filer is 164. So again, what is the point fo this filter!! My Zero water pitcher read 005, and that is after 1 month use. This is the most dissapointing purchase I have ever made, can't believe this is a 3M product. I will have to stick to keep filling out my Zero Water pitcher.This is NOT used to filter really nasty water. Its for city water that you want to taste better and clean up a little. It reduces, not eliminates most, not all common water born problems. Again, read the spec sheet. It will, as others have stated, make your water look and taste better. You can see what its been removing when you change it out. Just dump it into a clear glass. Youll know then. It says change every 6 months, but ive accidently let it go longer w no problems. I also permanent marker the date on the side when i install it so i can keep a track of the time on it. The complete kit is very good and well made with decent fittings if you go that route. If you know some basic plumbing skills, you can install 1 of these units. At replacement time, i find the filter easy to remove but a pain in the butt to reinstall. You really have to jam it up into the filter housing to get it to lock in. Once it does, its easy to turn. Ive been using these filters for years with no issues either with taste and purity, or leaks. The 4 stars is for the effort to get the new filter to seat. Removal is super easy. Just a twist counter clock wise and it comes right out. Amazon even offers the automatic refill service for these so you dont have to remember to order replacements.Installation: It was easy to install in-line with the supplies in the box and the existing line going to the cold water feed. It mounts easily under the cabinet.http://www.drupalitalia.org/node/67815 The filter itself does not need priming or flushing prior to installation or use. It was a straight forward job to get it installed and can be accomplished by anyone who has changed a feed line on a tap or bathroom fixture. Performance: Well its almost like a Brita filter for the cold water line. It does restrict the cold water flow a bit, but not a lot and that was to be expected. I just turned down the hot water feed to match the pressure and they are still balanced. Even while operating on cold water only, the spray feature on our tap works, so there is still enough pressure. Taste: Its as clean as the water coming off the fridge. Not quite reverse osmosis level, but a noticeable enough difference in cleanliness. Our coffee and tea does not have a faint taste of chlorine. So good for drinking and cooking. That was the goal, and it works. The final comment which we cannot give now is length of service and swapping. Since the filters are interchangeable, we went with the advanced to start, and we are happy with it. Less expensive, good performance and longer life. So we will stick to that. The filter is supposed to be easily swapped when its time to change it, and considering the ease of installation I can't see that being different. We will see. The filter is rated for 6 months but we get close to 8 with 2 adults and a child. Our municipal water is top-notch but I can't stand the smell or taste of chlorine in it. This filter gets rid of the taste and smell and delivers water that only tastes like water. The water pressure is excellent and only drops as the filter reaches the end of it's life.
