It flew open like a bat outta hell and smacked me in the shins because I’m use to it just naturally closing on its own due to the hinges. I immediately realized the hinge snapped. But after pulling out the dishwasher, inspecting it and trying to find a replacement part, I realized I don’t think it will be a simple repair. Here are pictures of the hinges I found the parts manual and page 13 shows that the part that broke is the ENTIRE BOTTOM CASE of the dishwasher. Having looked at the other parts that connect to it, I’m starting to think this isn’t going to be a simple repair. Just identify broken part order and replace. There is nothing difficult. Ussualy the plastic end on the cable snaps. It's not the plastic part on the front end of the spring. It's the part that the spring connects to on the dishwasher base that broke. According to the parts manual (again linked in my OP), it appears that the part that broke is not a simple remove and replace with new part. Am I reading it wrong.
